Winning Chili Cookoff Recipe

Congratulations to Clint Werner, winner of the Cedar Rapids Chili Cookoff! Clint's winning recipe:

Chipolte Black Bean Chili
	1 tsp. olive oil 1 cup finely chopped onion 4 tbsp. fresh minced garlic 2 tbsp. chili powder 1 tbsp. Lawry's seasoned salt 1 small chipotle chili in adobo sauce minced ¹/₄ tsp. black pepper ¹/₈ tsp. salt 2 15 oz. cans black beans, drained and rinsed 1 15 oz. can red kidney beans 2 14.5 oz. cans diced fire roasted tomatoes 1 pint homemade jalepeno/garlic salsa or a good storebought substitute 1 4.5 oz. can chopped green chilis 1 lb. ground beef, browned 2 16 oz. cans beef broth -- more as needed

Chipolte Black Bean Chili

1 tsp. olive oil
1 cup finely chopped onion
4 tbsp. fresh minced garlic
2 tbsp. chili powder
1 tbsp. Lawry's seasoned salt
1 small chipotle chili in adobo sauce minced
¹/₄ tsp. black pepper
¹/₈ tsp. salt
2 15 oz. cans black beans, drained and rinsed
1 15 oz. can red kidney beans
2 14.5 oz. cans diced fire roasted tomatoes
1 pint homemade jalepeno/garlic salsa or a good storebought substitute
1 4.5 oz. can chopped green chilis
1 lb. ground beef, browned
2 16 oz. cans beef broth -- more as needed

Brown ground beef in fry pan. Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic. Sauté for 3 minutes. Add other ingredients, including browned ground beef and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 45-60 minutes. Add more spices and broth to taste. Download recipe here
